New Game Enhancements and More (Closed)

Based on your comments, we've made massive changes to Pirates Online and more are on the way! What do you think of the new Port Royal, the new Tutorial, improved menus and other changes?

As with any new update, there may be bugs or issues. We are working quickly to fix these issues. If you see any problems, report them to us!

Congrats to the POTCO crew for getting this major update out in a timely fashion! My favorite feature is the New Port Royal mini-map (click on the bottom right of the compass) which should especially help out new pirates. Keep up the good work.

Now that the update has been installed I cant play any more. It crashes right after the connecting page. ANy suggestions? If tryed changing to open GL, and the other Graphics options.

The new Port Royal is first class, as expected. Much more like a real town and fort. The character picture available on the 'friends' screen is helpfull. The connection to the server in the test mode is still fragile...but it's a test, right? I'm looking forward to what I've seen becoming a permanent addition to the game. Thanks for keeping it fresh!

Many changes Captain, love the gui control guide, keeps a Pirate in control of his belongings. Perhaps some changes are not for all Pirates some say? I tell you, we are not static, but are dynamic Pirate brethren, we are adaptive, We see POTCO Staff working for the good for the Caribbean, We will look ahead for quest advancements, Cap and Gold limits raised and assisting our Pirate brethren keeps us marching on! ?Treasure be the Measure of our Pleasure!

I must say i was skeptic, but the new town came out fantastic!I am very pleased with the new look. From what ive read and heard the same might happen for other islands. I definantly think its time Tortuga had a major makeover. Anyway, i really like the new fort. Its alot more fun to explore! Great job developers, keep up the good work!

LOVE IT! Kudos to the Graphics Team. Love the mini-map and the graphical compass, but would like it to show taverns as well and become a part of every island/map. The show player card is also GREAT! One problem, where is the guy that takes music requests for the 5 gold fee? How do I listen to my new sheet music transfered in from COTD (cannons of the deep). I found the music guy in the Royal Anchor but he wasn't taking requests.

I love the new Port Royal. I got lost but it is great. The compass is awesome. and the new way to look at your friends is sooo cool. It is nice to look thru your friends list and know just exactly who they are. In all I love the new changes and cannot wit to se the next ones.

Okay, when i first logged on, i loved the character pictures of our fellow pirate friends, it's very helpful. the one thing i hate hate hate hate is the new chat box. it is horrible and i'm getting frustrated by it. port royal is okay, i got lost and couldn't find my way back to the shipwright which is where i started so i ended up having to TP to port royal so i would be back at the beginning. i'll have to get used to it. two out of 3 stars.

I like the new changes. I also like the map of the port royal. When i was a newbie, I got lost pretty freuqently on the island-too many things to remember. The map definitely helps. I also noticed some of the other changes as well. Keep up the good work guys. Thanks for listening to us.

Although the new twists and turns make it harder to get around PR, it makes it more interesting and something for us veterans to get used to. I like the new character info, especially seeing what level ppl are and contacting them. I'm not crazy about the chat interface, it seems it was changed for the sake of changing. The main problem I have had with the chat interface is making sure to select the correct tab, it would have been helpful to add a keyboard shortcut that would automatically route chat to the local, crew or guild correctly. Also I cannot stand that whispering blocks all other chat methods. Fort charles was laggy on the "ideal" ocean I was first on, went to a quiet one and it was better, but wow there seem to be hardly any enemies there. I guess its meant for newbies, but still quite barren. Anyway maybe the test server offering was a mistake because I heard about it, and the post was around 3am!! but now it doesn't work. Good job overall though.

I LOVE the new Port Royal!!!! Well, I still have to get used to it, but still...it's so awesome! The only thing that I don't really like is the chat interface. I liked the old one better, but other than that...the game's great! Haha, and one more thing...I get lost ALOT in the new Port Royal, but I thins that I'll get used to it someday! Great Job! :)

THe port royal is cool but I have been having problems with the game since it came it shows other players/npc clothes blured tattoos and rings and other accesorries arent there and I cant even get on with out lagging i turned all options on low but i still dont ahve a diffrence.:(

Love the updates, only have a few complaints. I don't really like the chat interface.. i really like the old version. And I am definitely not liking the single crew button. It is also hard to find.. took me awhile to find it lol. I liked how before I could control what kind of people I am looking for (Lvl, cannon lvl etc.) I also don't like how its confusing to tell whether the button is making a crew or searching for it. One last thing is the giant hill in front of the beach.. right around the shipwright.. it makes me feel kind of claustrophobic lol.. Some trees instead maybe? Overall though I love the changes! Its nice to have to explore and try and find my way around. Keep up the Amazing job POTCO crew! Really!! :D

The game is wonderful. I have 2 problems. One is that you must crew a problem player before you can put them off your ship, if they won't join crew you must port and lose the bounty you worked for before you can put them off. the second problem is the game will just shut down and you must log back in.

Outstanding! I love the new look and feel. The improved compass is the best color plus the clickon map. Tip-o-the tricorn ter ye. Also like the new music and better grenades. The new chat is much better, clearer and easier to use. The boatwright, great idea I hope we might find some of these on the outer islands... I also found some new quests, nice. Thankee fer all yer hard work mates!!

The new look of Port Royal is great. It looks more closer to the Port Royal in the movie, where you can recall Will Turner fought with Jack Sparrow under the bridge. It is more like an English old town. I have went up to the balcony of Anchor Royal and Rowdy Rooster. It is good to be living there. LOL. The changes in the crew list is better and you can locate who is the crew leader and also you can check each individual crew member status by clicking its icon. The friend list is much better now and you can check their status including their current look and outfit, also in which server and health status. One thing is about the background music, can we have an option to select which one to be used. I like those old grand sound tracks. Our cargo number of the ship has been changed but I have found more gold is obtained than before. Great job!!! Applaused.

What a great job on the new PR. It's a little overwhelming at first but I guess I just have to get used to it. I like the new pirate feature where you can see a pix and what level your friends are. I can tell a difference on the graphics too. I hope your team will make similiar changes to other islands in the future. Keep up the good work!

Wish I'd studied the map before I went in. It looks very impressive, but I did have trouble finding things. I'm sure I'll get used to it, though. I did report a few bugs I found - like blotch navy uniforms and game lockups. I think its an exciting adventure just making your way through all the passages and finding all the cul de sacs (as long as one does not allow ones self to get to frustrated; it is only a game after all.) Well, I certainly enjoyed it, anyway.

The new Port Royal is vary nice i love the new fort. But i wish to get back like /salutes and stuff like that you cant see the emots on the chat anymore so you dont know if someone is waving to you unless you look at them. I also love the new friends where you can see there lvls and stuff but some of my friends get logged when they push someones name now. please try to fix that. I love the new Port Royal! I'm also very happy that the lag has been deminished. It seems to work so much better on my Mac. The crew options are a bit confusing, but I love that when you click on your friends it gives all their stats and a picture.. Fantastic!!! Can't wait for the Kraken... it is still coming, right?

The new Port Royal is great, had a lot of fun exploring it! i see a lot of others mentioning the new chat system, i like the fact that everyone can hear now, kids get misspelled words as arrr but they are no longer deaf. i think it is the colors. pastels look too close. the purple for crew worked better. and the filter seems to be a lot harsher, it would be nice to know when your sentence didn't get through, rather than people think you are ignoring them. in the old guild chat you could see when words disappeared. But all in all i like the changes! oh and more soldiers to fight in fort charles! it is way bigger but way less soldiers to battle?

I waited till everything grew on me before i would comment here. love the new PR. Only glitch i see is the quest tracking arrow doesnt appear on in the town sometimes. I see alot of people complaining about the chat interface. I dont see the problem its not that different just little things like when someone types it says guild,, crew,, ect in front of who typing.. Love how you can click a name in the chat area and there player profile appears.. Hope this means in the future Tuga might change.. Keep up the great work POTC Crew

I have to say, I used to think that padres had the best town design. But now I have to say the award must go to the New Port Royal. It really has a much better feel to it. It still takes a day and a half to get from one end to the next. But real cool design

The town looks so much better. Enjoy the new looks of it. Should have reworked all the caves also. Plus added new character models to port royal we havent seen yet and maybe added higher lvl foes for us 40's. Nice new town and all but still boring if ur a higher lvl.

The new look and feel of Port Royal is much more accurate than the older version. It really brings to life the congested "We put a town up around the fort quickly" feel that was prevalent in colonial cities expanding out of military strongpoints at the end of the "Golden Age of Piracy". All in all, an excellent depiction an of Eighteenth Century European colonial town in the Caribbean. Great Job!

The Pro's Poty Royal is awsome and you can boot peeps from your ship if need be and you can add more friends.The Con's are the Chat Colors and The new chat interface.It is horrible I wish you would have kept it the way that it was and Leadership is not working in spvp and Friends Box is way to wide now.But overall You mates are the bomb.Ty for always trying and succeding to keep things awsome for all of us.I love this game.You Guys Rule keep up the great work.

Oh my gosh! i love love LOVE the new Port Royal!!!!!!!!!!! Its so BIG, I just keep on getting lost! But it helped with my quest! There are more barrels and crates to search! Oh! And the new Fort Charles, ( i call it Charley ) ah- mazing!I like the pathways, and, the steps are steeper, it gives it more oh a dramatic look! Sorry Ruby Star, but I looked at all the other comments, and nobody has said ANYTHING bad about this place! I mean, who would, there is nothing bad to say about it!

Yes most of the improvements i quite like such as the new friends pannel, privatering features, the fact that you can kick people off of your ship and the new port royal (even though it's a little hard to navigate) i like the map, the map is good. however the change in graphics is a big bad no-no guys!!!! no put it back now the people look creepy and you can't tell that they have a mouth!!! please fix the graphics of the people back to the way it was and don't mess with perfection!

I love the new port royal and appreciate what you guys have done. But i do have something to complain about. The pirate graphics look REALLY bad. The faces look ugly and your chest tattos dont show. All the clothes look like CARDBOARD. but im not talking about how YOUR pirate looks. i mean that all the pirates you walk past,which are other pirates, look ugly. but on there computer it looks great! JUST PLEASE FIX THE GRAPHICS and you guys will get more people online really fast!

GEE THANKS FOR TAKING AWAY ALL THE CLOTHES!!!..,so u added a color wheel...big deal....& u didn't even add it for all the items. i no most of the ppl here have good coments, but i have some bad ones. 1st of all, because of these updates my game crashes right after he connectin page. 2nd is, ive heard that u cant do the emotes anymore, now i cant moo alot and bug my friends.please fix the bug that makes my game crash, and put those emotes back on QUICKLY.

The new modifications to Port Royal are amazing! Keep up the good work! I can see a possible expansion of the number of islands in the future. Port Royal is great, but I would love to see Hispanola or Florida in the future; this would open up new quests for the fountain of youth, and create new locations to explore.

There is still way to much lag, going on in here. I will be out on a ship and get kicked off with a boat full of royal chests, need to save the chests or gold needs to go back to you if you get kicked off. I like the new Port Royal it's awesome, need to change the other towns and add more islands to the game. I think you should be able to teleport to any island, and to the person that you need to get info from.

Hey! Congrats on the New Port Royal! I love it! And the new map is awesome. Maybe something to think about: putting that type of map in every location. The new chat interface is neat too. I like how you can kick someone off your ship if they keep shooting at lv highs that you don't want to kill. Thats happened to me before. And I like when you click a friend or guild member. Where it show the actual pirate and what server he/she is on. Now I don't understand the 'Players' button in the Friends bar. I'm not sure if it's Crew or just people that are online at the time. I haven't crewed up with anyone since the update so I'll need to check it out. Oh, and one more thing: Please could you maybe make a quest where you can change your name, because I was choosing my name in the prison cell at the beginning, and while I was choosing my name, the video started of Jack leaving the cell and now I am stuck with a name I really didn't want. Once again, thanks for the new stuff!

im used to the old port royal so the new one realy confused me in some spots like ounce you acualy get to fort charles are cool i dont nesesairily like the town because theres onley one easy route around and its hard to find things. hope you like my words of advice and dont mess with tourtuga ever.

I am rather dissapointed with the new Port Royal. Is it possible to keep a few servers with the old version? Also I liked having the battle music playing when you pulled out a weapon. Now I was forced to play my own music to make up for the loss. Is there a way you can allow pirates to choose the music? I rather enjoyed the old tunes, it made for a more "spirited" battle, got me in the mood for killin'.
